Mertkan Akkoç received BSc in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Istanbul Technical University, Istanbul, Turkey in spring of 2016. He received MS degree in the Department of Computer Engineering from Istanbul Technical University, Istanbul, Turkey in spring of 2020. In the fall of 2020, he began his PhD degree in the Department of Computer Engineering at the Istanbul Technical University under the guidance of Berk Canberk.

He interned at ITU Embedded System Design Lab in 2015 where he embedded code in FPGA using Verilog language and did applications on MSP-EXP430G2 LaunchPad and embedding code in MSP430G2231 and MSP430G2553. After that, he interned at Argenit, Turkey in 2015. During this internship, he did image processing with FISH images using C++ and OpenCV library. In 2015, he also interned at Alcatel Lucent Teletaş A.Ş., Turkey in 2015 where he checked configuration information of IMS Network Elements, such as SCG, dependent on IMS Technologies.
